2009-2010 990 Form
September 21, 2010
We, the PKS Kids board members, are writing this letter to show what plans we are making for the future of this organization. We are continually thinking of ways to make the lives better for families with a child that has been diagnosed with Pallister-Killian Syndrome.
We want to share with you the goals we have designated to work toward in the next year or two.
*Creating and maintaining a medical/family registry
A PKS medical registry will be the one central place that doctors can go to gather medical information that we as parents enter about our children. Parents also will be able to search common concerns for their kids. This will also allow for more accurate statistics and record-keeping around the world.
The cost is $10,000.00 simply to have the registry created. It will require an additional $500.00 a month to have it hosted and maintained.
*PKS Kids Face2Face Conferences
Although these conferences aren’t new, we feel we can improve these for you! We want to bring in medical vendors and different types of speakers, as well as offer other programs during the event.
The last two conferences we hosted cost between $20,000.00 -$25,000.00 each.
*Family Giving Grant
We award money to families to help with medical bills, purchase equipment or pay for therapies. The more money we have for this project the more families we can help directly.
This past year we were able to give out two $1000.00 grants to help these families.
We require financial support for these activities. PKS Kids won’t succeed without the help of all our families. Right now, fundraising is basically coming from five or six families, and not only does that create a burden on a few, it’s not wise for PKS Kids to rely on one or two large fundraisers to support the entire non-profit. We know times are tight for everyone now so we have put together a fundraising packet to help with ideas. Perhaps fundraising isn’t an option for you. Instead, ask for direct donations for your birthday, your child’s birthday, etc. Seek donation opportunities from your place of employment for instance. TOGETHER, we can accomplish much!
Thank you for your support!
